• No sending path exists. There is no SMS provider connected, no dispatch mechanism, and no way for a message composed in Ekkli to reach a phone as a text. Any communication that isn't email currently has nowhere to go — the underlying consent system rejects anything other than the email channel outright.
• SMS credit top-ups can already be purchased in Billing. This is the one genuinely real piece of the picture: Ekkli's billing system has a line item for buying SMS credits. That's not a mistake and it's not a dark pattern — it's early scaffolding for a feature that's planned, put in place ahead of the feature itself so the groundwork doesn't have to be rebuilt later.
• Buying credits today does not queue up SMS sending. This is the important part to be clear-eyed about: if you were to purchase SMS credits right now, no messages would go out and none would be held in reserve waiting for a launch. The billing plumbing being real is evidence that SMS is genuinely on our roadmap and not just a wish-list item — but it is not evidence that sending is close, and we're not going to imply otherwise by putting a price tag next to it. We'd rather you not spend money on credits until there's something on the other end of them.

Why we're saying this instead of staying quiet

It would be easy to leave SMS off the site entirely and avoid the question. We chose not to, for two reasons.
